Last weekend was extremely fencing orientated. In the city of Plovdiv, there was the Open Epee Tournament of up to 17 and up to 20 years right off the calendar of the Federation bringing points for the National Rankings. Participation – up to 17-22 girls, up to 20-21 teenagers and 20-25 girls. From our competitors, Manoil Manchev took the 3rd place of cadets, 8 of youths. On the day of the Cadet Competition, Moni did not show his full potential and we are sure he will show a better fencing at the next comp. In the youths he made a dramatic qualification for the eliminations after a difficult start in the groups, after two brilliant victories he came to the top 8 of the youths and with the accumulated points he secured place in the first 4 of Bulgaria cadets ranking which according to the regulation put him on the main line of Bulgarian Team for the next competition abroad.
There was a similar trend in girls.
Joanna Ermenkova played strong groups and eliminations until the 17th final
there, however, failed to overcome one of her main competitor Popova, over which in recent meetings had convincing victories.
In the final standings, she took 3rd place. From our girls, the 14-year-old Joanna demonstrated a strong will and managed to make some very difficult bouts to enter the eighth, the four, and in the last fight she did not manage to get to the final.
She is ranked third in girls up to 20 years of age and has accumulated a number of points for the Bulgarian rankings which put her in the main team of the national team up to 17 years old.
